Mike’s interview with Darren Wilson Producer of ""Father of Lights" movie"

Darren Wilson founded Wanderlust Productions in 2006 when he started stumbling through his first feature film, Finger of God. Later, he decided to surround himself with people who were more talented than him to help create his next features, Furious Love and Father of Lights, but of course he takes all the credit for their great work. Darren’s job description includes creating the stories, speaking and showing off the films, dealing with a variety of “interesting” reactions to Wanderlust’s films, planning all the shoots, and schmoozing with awesome people around the world. Darren taught for 10 years at Judson University before moving into production full time, and he is currently the Artist-in-Residence at Judson.

Father of Lights is the final film in the Finger of God/Furious Love trilogy. It is big, epic, and above all, challenging. If Darren were to have to explain what it is about in a nutshell, he said he would put it like this: if Finger of God is about God’s power, and Furious Love is about God’s love, then Father of Lights is about God’s heart. He went into making this film by asking the simple question: who is God? He wanted to know His character, His personality, and who He truly is. To answer this question, they had to peel back the many layers of religious garbage that has been passed onto him through generations. That He is angry. Vengeful. Wrathful. And in general, that He doesn’t like you very much. The truth, as you will see vibrantly in this film, is that He is the most loving, compassionate, and wonderful Father you can imagine.

Mike’s interview with Nick Vujicic author of “Unstoppable””

A life without arms and legs - IMAGINE! What if you couldn't wrap your arms around the ones you love? How about not being able to walk, dance, run, or even stand? Now envision the worst case scenario: living with no arms and no legs. What would you do? Would you still search for PURPOSE and meaning? How would it affect your ATTITUDE towards life and those around you? Would you let the pressure and despair of your circumstance taint your CHARACTER, or would you move forward with honor? Would you have the strength to repeatedly tell yourself, "NEVER GIVE UP"?

Meet Nick Vujicic. He was born in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia. Without any medical explanation or warning, Nicholas Vujicic (pronounced 'Vooy-cheech') came into the world with neither arms nor legs. Having had an uneventful pregnancy and no family history to expect this condition, indescribable shock filled the hospital room that pivotal 4th of December day. A limbless son was not what nurse Dushka Vujicic, and her husband Pastor Borris Vujicic had been expecting. How would their son live a normal happy life? What could he ever do or become when living with what the world would see as such a massive disability? Little did they know, the little beautiful limbless baby would one day inspire and motivate people from all walks of life.

Pastor T. C. Ryan takes us on an unsettling journey through his lifelong struggle with sexual addiction, one that predated and pervaded his pastoral ministry—one which for far too long he faced in secrecy and isolation, separated from the brothers and sisters in Christ who were called to bear one another's burdens.

His book doesn’t cast blame or argue for looser moral standards. It does, however, call us to the unsettling ministry that a God who is love calls us to—the unsettling grace that is the audacious gospel of Christ.

Mikes interview with Capt. Eugene B. “Red” McDaniel author of “Scars and Stripes”

On 19 May 1967, while on his 81st combat mission over North Vietnam, Eugene "Red" McDaniel was shot down while flying his A-6 Intruder aircraft. He was listed as "missing in action" until 1970, when the Hanoi government acknowledged that he was being held prisoner. A POW for more that six years, McDaniel was released 4 March 1973, after the Vietnam cease-fire.

Red McDaniel was one of the most brutally tortured prisoners of the Vietnam War. This torture resulted from his active role in camp communications during an organized escape attempt by his fellow prisoners. He is the author of Scars and Stripes, a book telling about his six years in a communist prison.

When Red McDaniel returned home from Vietnam, he was awarded the Navy's highest award for bravery, the Navy Cross. Among his other military decorations are two Silver Stars, the Legion of Merit with Combat "V", the Distinguished Flying Cross, three Bronze Stars with Combat "V", and two Purple Hearts for wounds received at the hands of the North Vietnamese torturers.

Captain McDaniel resumed active duty and served as Commanding Officer of USS Niagara Falls and Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier USS Lexington. Under his command, Lexington experienced no serious accidents while accomplishing more than 20,000 carrier landings.

Red McDaniel served as Director of Navy/Marine Corps Liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives from 1979 to 1981. In this capacity, Captain McDaniel worked daily with Congress on national defense planning and provided legislators with information vital to the strategic development of Navy forces throughout the world. He retired from the Navy in 1982.

Mikes interview with Michael Card author of “Mark: The Gospel of Passion”

In a career that spans 30 years, Michael Card has recorded over 31 albums, authored or co-authored over 24 books, hosted a radio program, and written for a wide range of magazines. While he has penned such favorites as “El Shaddai”, “Love Crucified Arose”, and “Emmanuel,” He never imagined selling more than 4 million albums or writing over 19 #1 hits. The popularity of his work seemed a stark contrast to his goal in life, to simply and quietly teach the Bible.

Although music provided him the opportunity to share insight gained through extensive research, writing songs alone limited what he felt called to share. Card would frequently agonize over having to condense the vast depth and richness of scripture into a three-minute song. And so he fell, quite naturally, into the field of book writing where he has garnered numerous awards.

Never one to compartmentalize his spiritual life, Card’s quest for community slowly seeped into his professional life as he began to write articles and books on topics that captured his imagination through conversations with Bible teachers, friends and contemporaries in both Christian music and the academic community.

The Gospel of Mark is a book of action and passion. Events happen one after another, with a vivid sense of immediacy and urgency. Jesus’ emotions come through strongly--at times he is angry and distressed, other times filled with compassion. In this volume, Michael Card provides a lively tour of the Gospel of Mark. As a friend and interpreter of Simon Peter, Mark gives firsthand glimpses of the life and ministry of Jesus in vibrant and energetic narration. The first Gospel to be written, Mark is a "pamphlet for hard times," encouraging Christians that all their sufferings were already endured by Jesus. Accompany Mark on his journey with Jesus. The more clearly you see Jesus here, the greater your passion will be for him.

In The Gospel of Yes, Mike Glenn reveals God’s most powerful word, which opens our eyes to everything he does. That word is YES. God said “yes” to creating a world for us to live in and “yes” to inviting us into a relationship with him. No matter what we face in life, the best way to live is captured in one word: yes.

Mike and Dr. Debra Peppers interview with Steve Scheibner & Megan Scheibner, Megan is the author of “In my Seat”

In My Seat: A Pilot’s Story from September10th–11th (Liberty Alliance Publishing, September 11, 2012) by Megan Ann Scheibner, is the moving story of her husband, Steve Scheibner, the pilot originally scheduled to fly American Airlines Flight 11out of Boston, MA…the first plane to hit the World Trade Center on September11, 2001…9/11.

When Steve pulled up the flight information from that day, he realized that the screen was the same one that he had seen the day before. On September 10th, Flight 11 had his name penciled in. Now his name was missing. Instead, these ominous words were typed in the spot that had held his name: Sequence Failed Continuity. For aviation professionals those three words mean one thing: the plane never made it to its destination.

Megan writes, “I’ll never forget the sound of Steve’s voice as he called out my name later that afternoon. It was hoarse and gravelly…and filled with stunned disbelief. When I spun around the corner and stopped in his office, he was sitting with his head bowed. The color had left his face. Steve pointed at his computer screen and said, ‘That is the trip I packed for. I should have been on that flight.’"

For Steve, it was the beginning of an emotional rollercoaster. His phone began to ring off the hook. Friend after friend dialed his number, often sobbing on the other end of the line—thankful to hear his voice and to know that he was safe. Suddenly, the gravity of the situation began to hit home. Mike’s interview with Pastor Wallace Henley, the author of “Globequake: Living in the Unshakable Kingdom While the World Falls Apart

Born just two days prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, author Wallace Henley has spent most of his life learning to deal with a world in crisis. Born to a couple who had survived the Great Depression and were understandably alarmed when their nation was cast into a world war only days after their first son’s birth, Henley learned at an early age that stability could not be found in an unstable world.

By the time Henley reached high school the threat of communism was rampant and the constant threat of a nuclear war made him wonder if his generation might not be the world’s last. A few years later, he was once again called to bear witness to the world in crisis mode when, as a young reporter in Birmingham, Alabama, he was assigned the violence and unrest brought on by the Civil Rights movement. And a few years after that, while working as an aide in the White House, he witnessed the dissolution of the troubled Nixon administration. Returning to journalism following Nixon’s departure from the White House, Henley soon began to feel drawn to the ministry – a career choice he’d once sworn to never make – and within a few months became pastor of his first church.

In the time since, he has traveled the world as a speaker and writer, authored more than a dozen books, served as a Congressional chief of staff and as a leadership consultant and worked in over 20 countries, all the while gaining a keener grasp of scripture and a deeper understanding of human nature.

Today he serves as pastor in the 56,000 member Second Baptist Church of Houston, led by Ed Young and is a columnist for Christian Post. He and his wife of over 50 years, Irene, live in the Houston area. The couple have a grown son and daughter and when not working or traveling, enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.

Wallace Henley's latest book, Globequake, presents a compelling argument that what we are experiencing is truly nothing more than an invitation to renew our faith and anchor ourselves in Christ. It is a persistent call for us to change our viewpoint, choosing to see the rapidly changing world from the spiritual perspective of trust in God’s unchanging Kingdom, rather than from a perspective of an earthly realm influenced by every prevailing wind.

As Henley writes in the book's introduction, his one hope is that the reader will "see that the end of the journey for the person anchored to Him (Christ) is the realization and consummation of hope – no matter how hard the shaking along the route.”

Mike’s interview with Dr. Richard Winter, the author of “When Life Goes Dark”

Dr. Richard Winter, husband and father of four grown children, is a psychotherapist, counselor and professor of practical theology at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. A native of Britain, he trained in medicine and psychiatry in England and has lived in the United States since 1992. His books include Still Bored in a Culture of Entertainment and Perfecting Ourselves to Death.

Depression strikes millions, across all ages and demographic groups. Approximately one in eight will have a severe depressive episode at some point in their life. Women experience depression twice as often as men. And over fifty percent of people with serious depression do not get adequate help. What can be done?

Psychiatrist and theologian Richard Winter explores the complex medical and psychological issues surrounding depression. He sorts through recent scientific research on its biochemical and genetic causes and examines social and cultural factors. Winter also dispels common Christian misunderstandings of depression and looks at how biblical characters experienced severe despair. Throughout he offers ways to help the suffering. Even in the shadow of the valley of death, there is hope for healing and deliverance.

This book is a helpful guide for those who find themselves, their loved ones or those they counsel vulnerable to depression. Find here a framework both for understanding depression and for rediscovering hope.

Blehm’s next book, New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller The Only Thing Worth Dying For (HarperCollins, 2010), was hailed by former congressman Charlie Wilson, of Charlie Wilson’s War, as a “must read” among books about the current war in Afghanistan.

In 1999, Blehm became the first journalist to accompany and keep pace with an elite Army Ranger unit on a training mission. His access into the Special Operations community and reportage set an important milestone for American war journalism two years before reporters began to gain widespread embedded status with the U.S. military in the War Against Terror. Blehm’s immersion with the Rangers is what led him to the previously untold story of an elite team of eleven Green Berets who operated in the hinterland of Taliban-held Afghanistan just weeks after 9/11 (The Only Thing Worth Dying For), as well as to his current book: Fearless (Waterbrook/Multnomah; Random House). On sale in May 2012, Fearless is the heartrending and inspiring story of Naval Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Adam Brown, who overcame tremendous odds in his rise to the top tier of the U.S. military: SEAL Team Six.

Eric Blehm’s new book Fearless is the intimate story of a devoted man who was an unlikely hero but a true warrior, described by all who knew him as just that—fearless.

Mike’s Interview with Mike Grayson, Mikeschair’s Lead Vocalist

The sound of MIKESCHAIR demands attention. The strong delivery of their self-titled album on CURB Records sets out to entertain as well as inspire those who listen. Their unique pop sound mixed with rock guitars, electronic textures, and bass grooves blended with catchy, anthemic, sing-along choruses compel you to step up emotionally and spiritually. The music inspires action to change the world through love.

Not only does the sound demand attention, but so do the remarkable individuals of the four-man outfit that make up MIKESCHAIR. Mike Grayson first found his passion for music while in sixth grade and continued to grow this passion throughout high school. He tied together this love of music with his faith as a youth worship leader in his church. Sam Tinnesz has dreamed of music his whole life. Through self-discipline and practice, he developed his skills on guitar, leading him to perform with many rock bands over the years before finding a home with MIKESCHAIR. Jesse Hale began classical violin training at four-years-old and has maintained his enthusiasm for music ever since. Using his welltrained ear, he’s been able to pick up several other instruments including keys, synths and programming – thereby becoming the band’s “utility guy”. Jon Haire picked up his first bass in seventh grade and hasn’t put it down ever since. His desire to mix his aspirations for music and performance has proven to be an essential element to the makeup of MIKESCHAIR.

Mike’s Interview with Author Dr. James “Jim” Garrow, “The Pink Pagoda”

Dr. Garrow is the founder and Executive Director of the Bethune Institute's Pink Pagoda schools, private English-immersion schools for Chinese children. Today he runs 168 schools with nearly 6,300 employees. Garrow has spent over $25 million over the past sixteen years rescuing an estimated 40,000 baby Chinese girls from near-certain death under China's one-child-per-couple policy by facilitating international adoptions.

In Dr. Garrow’s new book, The Pink Pagoda, he tells two stories: his personal involvement in helping rescue more than 36,000 Chinese baby girls from death, and the tragic story of a widely used and malicious cultural practice that crosses borders and spans centuries. Transitioning from reluctant participant in an off-the-books adoption program to a visible champion for the rights of these babies whose parents wished to "set them aside," Garrow's story parallels our own. Most Westerners are only vaguely aware of the extent to which China's one-baby-per-household restriction has played out in that country and around the world and what they can do to stop it.

"The whole industry was so fake and superficial," she said, noting that she stopped doing lingerie ads, such as Victoria's Secret, because she "felt like a piece of meat" doing them.  Now, according to a Christian Post report, Weider only does modeling jobs she feels do not compromise her Christian values.
