“Sounds of Christmas”
Contemporary Christian Singing Group “The Katinas”
James & John Katina were Mike’s guests
Mike Dunn’s guest on “Quest for Character” will be Contemporary Christian music group, “The Katinas”.
The Katinas are a group of five brothers born in American Samoa, located about 1,000 miles south of Hawaii. Their music reflects their faith in the Lord as well as their love for their mother, who died shortly after the Katina family moved to Washington State in 1988; the family moved again to Nashville following this tragic event.
The Katinas began singing together while still children, and started performing at churches and fairs; as they grew, they concentrated on creating their musical message of love, faith, and family, writing many songs inspired by and dedicated to their mother.
The Katinas have released a Christmas album. 'Sounds of Christmas' features evergreens like "O Come All Ye Faithful", "Silent Night" and the project's single, "Little Drummer Boy". Said the group's James Katina, "We have always loved listening to Christmas music of all genres. 'Sounds of Christmas' gave us an opportunity to make a Christmas record that drew from different sounds both sonically and stylistically. Our hope is that the entire family will be able to enjoy these Christmas classics with perhaps a different twist."
